FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Sacramento, CA - July 8, 2024 - Okhmatdyt Hospital, Ukraine's largest children's medical center, was tragically struck by a Russian missile on Monday, July 8, 2024. This devastating act of aggression resulted in the loss of two adult lives within the hospital premises. The strikes across the city also claimed the lives of 20 individuals and left 82 others injured. Among the casualties were two children, with fears that more may be trapped beneath the debris.
Established in 1894, Okhmatdyt Hospital has been a pillar of medical care for some of Ukraine’s most vulnerable children, providing vital services across 80 departments, including specialized treatments for conditions like oncology and rare genetic diseases. Even amidst peacetime, Okhmatdyt conducted over 10,000 surgeries annually, utilizing its 720 hospital beds to serve more than 20,000 patients each year.
