April 18, 2024, Sacramento, CA.: Ukrainian American House (UA House), in partnership with Humane Society International (HSI), responds to the pet crisis in Ukraine by launching 'Helping Paws' Initiative
. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has resulted in a severe crisis in animal care. Countless animals are suffering from a lack of shelter and food. Despite the constant threat of shelling and occupation, brave Ukrainians are tirelessly working to save these animals.
Helping Paws is an initiative of Ukrainian American House, in partnership with Humane Society International (HSI) responding to the pet crisis in Ukraine. Together, we have established a distribution network to provide humanitarian aid to animals in areas where they are most in need. We are committed to delivering hundreds of tons of food to shelters that have been thoroughly vetted.
The statistics surrounding the full-scale invasion of Ukraine are indeed shocking. Due to the current situation, it has been reported that every month, more than 1000 animals in frontline areas are in need of serious medical treatment. Furthermore, the number of animals in shelters on frontline territories has increased by more than 100%, with more than 500 shelters currently in need of sponsorship.
By donating now, you can help purchase truckloads of emergency food to send to shelters caring for pets and other distribution centers within Ukraine. If you would like to support this vital cause, please visit our website: https://www.uahouse.org/donate.
