UA House Hosts Thanksgiving Event for Ukrainian Refugees
Roseville, CA – November 23, 2024 – On November 21, 2024, UA House hosted a heartfelt Thanksgiving event for Ukrainian refugees who are living in affordable housing provided through the support of UA House, made possible by the generosity of caring Americans. The event, part of the Care4U and Edu4U programs, focused on mental health support and underscored the compassion and solidarity of the American community, which has come together to assist refugees in their time of need.
The event, titled "Thriving Through Change: The Art of Gratitude," explored the connection between emotional health, gratitude, and navigating life’s transitions. Participants learned how practicing gratitude can help build resilience, maintain a positive outlook, and foster emotional balance, even during difficult times. Licensed counselors led discussions and activities, offering valuable tools to help attendees manage the emotional challenges of adjusting to life in the U.S.
As part of our existing programs as CARE4U, EDU4U and direct refugee assistance which provides year-round support services to Ukrainian refugees, the event aimed to support participants in coping with the trauma and stress of displacement, while helping them adjust to their new lives. For many, it was a chance to reflect on their journey and find comfort in the support and generosity of others as they begin to rebuild their lives in the U.S.
The event also celebrated the spirit of Ukrainian-American cooperation and the deep generosity of the American community. It highlighted how Americans have come together to support those who have fled hardship and are working to rebuild their lives.
As part of the celebration, each family received a free turkey from UA House to help make their holiday special.
FOX40 covered the event, showcasing the positive impact of UA House and the resilience of Ukrainian refugees as they adapt to their new lives in the U.S. UA House representatives, building managers, and refugees were interviewed, sharing their experiences and discussing the ongoing impact of UA House programs.
