Sacramento, CA
— February 19, 2025 – Ukrainian American House and Sunflower Society, with support from partners including the Consulate General of Ukraine in San Francisco, SOL Church, Resurrection Church, Sacramento Ukrainian SDA Church, Beautiful People, and media partner Ethno FM, are proud to announce the Stand With Ukraine: 3 Years of Resilience Cultural Gathering. This event will take place on Monday, February 24, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the California State Capitol (1315 10th St, Sacramento, CA).

This gathering marks the solemn third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, a devastating act that has shattered the lives of millions and left scars that will last for generations. In these three years, Ukraine has faced unimaginable loss, with families torn apart, cities reduced to rubble, over 20 thousand Ukrainian children forcibly deported to Russia, and the very essence of its sovereignty and independence continuously under threat.

Yet, through it all, the Ukrainian spirit has remained unbroken. The strength, courage, and resilience of the Ukrainian people have shone brightly amidst the darkness of war. This anniversary is not just a remembrance of the tragedy, but also a reminder of Ukraine's unwavering fight for freedom and justice.

“This gathering is a moment to pause and reflect on the incredible sacrifices made by so many and the enduring strength of the Ukrainian people. It’s a time to honor the lives lost, the families displaced, and the heroes who continue to fight for Ukraine’s freedom."But it’s also a moment to celebrate and preserve Ukraine’s vibrant cultural heritage—our spirit, traditions, language, and values that continue to thrive, even amidst the tragedy,” said Jay Tkachuk, Chairman of Ukrainian American House. In these dark times, we are reminded of the resilience of our culture, and the support we see in our community here in Sacramento strengthens our resolve. It gives me the courage to believe that together, we can help rebuild lives, protect our cultural identity, and stand firm in the face of adversity.”

Attendees will connect with others dedicated to advocating for peace, justice, and stability in Ukraine, while guest speakers, including Dmytro Kushneruk, Consul General of Ukraine in San Francisco, community leaders, and activists, will address the ongoing crisis and its profound impact on the global stage.

“It’s been a long and difficult time for Ukrainians in the country, and a painful and heartbreaking time for Ukrainians in the Diaspora as well,” said Olga Noshyn, Co-organizer of Sunflower Society Sacramento. “This is not the end of the war, nor a time for negotiations. Ukraine continues to fight, and the Ukrainian Diasporas continue to advocate and raise funds for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.”

This event is a chance for the entire community to come together and show solidarity with Ukraine. The organizers welcome everyone, regardless of their background or nationality, to join in standing with the people of Ukraine.
