FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 23, 2024, Sacramento, CA - Ukrainian American House today announced a new peer support program Care4U where case managers will provide mental health support to Ukrainian refugees in California struggling with emotional and mental wellness due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Care4U offers one-on-one linguistic and culturally competent counseling with Ukrainian peer counselors, group sessions, resources to help reduce stress, wellness activities, and referrals to licensed counselors.
The unique assistance offered by the Care4U program can make a significant difference in the lives of refugees, helping them cope with the significant challenges they face.
Approximately one in eight people worldwide suffer from mental health disorders. Displaced persons such as refugees and migrants are especially at risk due to their exposure to various stressors and challenges, which can affect their mental health and well-being not only during their relocation but also upon arrival. Our care for others has compelled us to take action. In the backdrop of increasing mental health concerns among refugees, UA house takes a pioneering step by initiating a unique program, 'Care4U', to alleviate their hardships.
